(1) Fixed guards must be secured in place using permanent methods (such as welding) or fasteners (screws, bolts, nuts, etc.) such that they cannot be moved or opened without the use of tools.

(2) Feed and discharge openings should be kept as small as possible and comply with safety distance requirements to ensure that individuals cannot come into contact with hazards through the openings.

(3) When a movable guard or a movable part of a guard is opened, it should remain attached to the machinery (e.g., via hinges or guide chains) whenever possible to prevent the guard or part from being lost or becoming difficult to restore to its proper position.

(4) If a movable guard malfunctions and loses its safety function, the hazardous machine function it is intended to "inhibit" must be prevented from operating or must cease operation; failure of the interlocking device must not result in accidental startup.

(5) The guard should serve as the barrier for access to the danger zone.

(6) Guards must effectively prevent hazards caused by flying objects. Protective guards must be installed on transmission components-such as drive belts, exposed gears, couplings, pulleys, rotating shafts, flywheels, grinding wheels, and electric saws-that are located near the ground or at a height of less than 2 meters.
