Product Overview
The LD-MD series DC surge protector is designed to limit transient overvoltage and protect low-voltage DC equipment from lightning-induced surges and switching surges. It is suitable for photovoltaic power systems, battery energy storage cabinets, DC combiner boxes, electrical grid auxiliary circuits, and industrial DC distribution panels.
The device uses a voltage-limiting protection design with pluggable modules for easier installation and maintenance. A green status window turns red when a fault occurs, and optional remote signaling contacts can be used to send alarm status to monitoring equipment.
Key Features
- Designed for DC systems: Suitable for 800VDC, 1000VDC, 1200VDC, and 1500VDC protection requirements.
- High surge discharge capacity: Nominal discharge current is 20kA and maximum discharge current is 40kA.
- Fast response: Response time is less than or equal to 25ns for quick transient overvoltage limitation.
- Pluggable module design: Simplifies installation, replacement, and maintenance in PV and DC distribution panels.
- Visual fault indication: The status window changes from green to red to show module fault condition clearly.
- Remote alarm option: Optional switch contacts support remote signaling or communication alarm functions.
- Thermal disconnect protection: Double thermal disconnect structure helps improve safety under abnormal conditions.
- Flexible wiring: Supports wire and busbar connection with installation conductor range up to 25mm2 solid or 35mm2 flexible.

Recommended Applications
This DC surge protection unit is recommended where lightning surge protection and transient overvoltage limitation are required for renewable energy and DC power equipment.
- Photovoltaic combiner boxes and DC distribution cabinets
- Solar inverter DC input protection
- Battery energy storage systems
- New energy power stations and grid auxiliary systems
- Industrial DC control and power supply panels
- Outdoor or indoor low-voltage equipment with upstream surge exposure
Installation and Maintenance Notes
- Install the device on a standard 35mm DIN rail inside a suitable enclosure.
- Select the voltage rating according to the maximum continuous operating voltage of the DC system.
- Use the recommended backup fuse coordination when required by the system design.
- Check the visual indicator during inspection; replace the pluggable module if the fault window turns red.
- Use the remote signaling terminals when the project requires alarm output to monitoring or communication systems.
- Installation and maintenance should be performed by qualified electrical personnel after power isolation.
Model Selection Notes
Before ordering, confirm the DC system voltage, pole configuration, surge current requirement, remote alarm requirement, backup protection design, conductor size, and enclosure installation method. For photovoltaic and energy storage projects, select the voltage rating with enough margin above the system's maximum operating voltage.
